Oops

Hi everyone!  I keep meaning to update the blog, but time has just slipped away!  The good news is I have been doing an awful lot of quilting!  Let's start playing catch-up!

Remember the Diamond Blocks I was playing with? I kept marching on those, getting a bit better as I went:

I ended up doing 4 of the "Square in a Diamond" style:

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with them. Maybe placemats? A table runner? I don't know. The purpose was to learn the method - and I did enjoy learning!  I was working with scraps and only have some of the center fabric.

We did a huge "garage makeover" that ended up taking quite a while.  My husband was just going to reorganize and buy some new hanging system thingies.  I made the mistake of saying that if he was going to take everything off the walls, I should paint.  It ended up being a major over-haul, but my goodness, does it look nice in there now!  One thing he came across was a desert camo rucksack cover that he was going to pitch.  Ooh!  I'll take it!  After a couple cycles through the wash, I was ready to turn it into a nice quilt for the new carrier we bought for our pups.  I mean, the fabric is so sturdy, it was just perfect!

I just left it in a solid piece, backed it in a pink camo, and put some simple quilting in:

I also tried doing the binding 100% by machine for the first time:

I sewed it to the back and brought it around to the front to stitch -- I think in the future, it would be better to do it the other way around. At any rate, the girls were thrilled with it:

For the record, Maggie wouldn't pose on the pink side of it. Honestly, that puppy cracks me up!

I will post again soon - promise!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I love the Christmas blocks and think they would make great placemats. The girls really love their little quilt.
